My Favourite Bookstagramers

Hey guys. I hope you took a breather from everything going on or are planning to. I’m planning to but it’s as if more things just keep coming up.

Well, I’m finally, finally (thank God) finally putting this out. Since last year, I’ve been saying I’d do a post on my favourite bookstagramers but I never got around to it. I suck. Anyways, I’m so happy to be sharing these lovely people’s account with you guys, discovering the bookstagram community two years ago have been the best thing to happen to me on Instagram. It’s one of my safe havens.

For starters, bookstagram is a community on Instagram where people share their love for books, basically. Thoughts, reviews, bants, book shelves, heck, everything and anything book related. Even book turned movies. You get the idea? Right, let’s get to it. So, I’d be starting with the first person that got me into the community. Hopefully I get to fully be a part of the community some day.

Helory – wolfandmoon

I remember searching the books hashtag on Instagram and so many beautiful aesthetic photos popped up but Helory’s held all my attention among others, it didn’t take long for me to follow her as her feed was so strikingly pleasant to look at. It’s clean and crisp and have this warm theme, also looking a tad minimalist. She hasn’t posted on her account for a long time but she’s active in her stories.

Cath – cupsandthoughts

Cath’s account is my favourite, her blog is one of my favourites too! Cath is a 20 yr old bookstagramer and blogger. Her feed gives off this warm, refreshing, clean and minimalist vibe. Cath has said on her stories a few times that she loves fantasy and new adult books. Her reviews and book recommendations are captivating and interesting and makes you want to grab whatever book she’d just written on. As a bonus to her account, she shares tips on productivity, journaling and effective planning.

Sumaiya – Sumaiyaa.books

Sumaiya reads a lot of books. She reads fiction and non-fictions on Islam and women empowerment too. She gives long, worthy reviews and recommendations. Her Feed theme has a little tinge of brown and gives off this clean vintage vibe and makes me think of old libraries and cozy cafess.

Aeesha – thatothernigeriangirl

For someone who’s always looking for representation, I had to look up bookstagram nigeria on Instagram and thankfully, I wasn’t disappointed. I wanted to know if people like me could be a part of it you know. So, I scrolled through, it took me a while to find a picture that had my full attention but I did. I found Aeesha’s account through the hashtag and followed up instantly. Coincidentally, she’s the creator of the bookstagramnigeria hashtag. Her feed gives me this cool, dark vintage vibes. Aeesha reads and gives reviews on any kind of book (fiction and non-fiction) but mostly by POC. Her reviews are excellently thought provoking and sometimes, funny.

Ghianne – wanderlost.soul

Ghianne is based in Philippines and is into young adult books amongst others, a few of her book recommendations are in my TBR. I love love her feed so much. It’s vintage and warm, an aesthetic I’m so in love with but can’t bring myself to create.

Mia – miasbookblog

While other feeds would have warm-minimalist pictures, Mia’s feed is entirely minimalist. Mia reads any and all kinds of books, from classics to young adult. Her captions are engaging and the feel her pictures give are calming. I love to look at them.

Lisa – remarkblylisa

Lisa is Asian. She reads Romance majorly, one of my favourite genres. Lisa’s book taste (in the romance genre) is superb and she gives honest and captivating reviews on books she’s read. I’ve read 2 books she’d recommended, trust me, they were so worth it. Lisa’s feed is bright, clean and colourful.

Ernestine – tha.tbookishgirl

I discovered Ernestine’s page during the lockdown and it made me happy to see someone around my age from Nigeria with such a thriving account in the community. Ernestine gives very honest and thought provoking reviews on books she’s read and while she doesn’t post much about them on her feed, her stories are always bookishly lively and otherwise.

Rachel – bookishwinterwitch

Rachel reads fantasy books and young adult but not limited to other genres. Her reviews are fun and interesting.

Miranda – thekindredstardust

I happened to come across Miranda’s page by accident while I was still majorly obsessed with the vintage aesthetic. But I ended up finding one more bookstagram account to follow. Miranda’s account is vintage through and through. I feel like the effect the edits have on the books makes me want to read them all the more, hehe. Is that strange?

This isn’t all of them but these are my favourites and they’re all active. You have to check them out. Sometimes, I love to visit their pages and just look at the pictures because they’re that beautiful and pleasing to look at. While the aesthetics are amazing, don’t forget to read their captions and add a few books to your TBR. Also, engage with them, most people in the bookstagram community engage with their followers, it’s so beautiful. Remember to always check their stories, they don’t have to be posting all the time. I’d also like to know your favourites, if you follow any.

P.S. It’s not all over the news but there’s famine and war currently going on in Yemen and a slave trade (still) happening in Libya. Toyin, while protesting black lives matter a week ago, tweeted about being sexually assaulted while seeking refuge, after that, she went missing. A week later, she was found dead and she was 19 yrs. I’m honestly exhausted from everything.
